First publised in The Playlist (March 1r, 2011) by Kevin Jagernauth..☛..Riding high off their Grammy win, and with a post-celebratory jaunt around the world this spring and summer, Arcade Fire show no signs of slowing down any time soon. And they still have more in store for their fans including the Spike Jonze-directed short film “Scenes From The Suburbs” which first appeared in an abbreviated form in the video for “The Suburbs”.
Starring a cast of unknowns including Sienna Blau, Sam Dillon, Zoe Graham, Zeke Jarmon, Paul Pluymen and Ashlin Williamson, the conceptual film is set in a no-too distant, war-ravaged America with the suburbs fenced off from the danger outside. At least that’s what we can glean from the surprisingly grim, yet carefree trailer that has just landed. And this just isn’t an instance of a band hiring a top director and letting him/her do all the work; Arcade Fire executive produced the film, with their manager Scott Rodger, and the band’s frontman, Win Butler and his brother and bandmate Will, also co-wrote the script with Jonze. The film premiered last month at the Berlin Film Festival and it also playing SXSW. It will be released in May with a special edition version of “The Suburbs.” Check it out below:
