The buzz is building in a very big way around director Park Chan-wook‘s English-language debut STOKER, and last month we get our very first glimpse of the highly anticipated film with the release of its first trailer.
Written by Wentworth Miller (Prison Break) and scored by Clint Mansell (THE FOUNTAIN, Requiem For A Dream), STOKER tells the story of India (Mia Wasikowska of Alice In Wonderland) whose father passes away. Soon after her father’s death, India’s Uncle Charlie (Matthew Goode of A Single Man) — whom she never knew existed — comes to live with her and her unstable mother (Nicole Kidman). She comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives and becomes increasingly infatuated with him. Kidman looks to be in epic form as usual, while multiple award-winning director Park Chan-wook (Oldboy, Thirst) appears to have brilliantly captured the magic of Alfred Hitchcock like nobody’s business.
Now, adding to the goosebump factor in a major way is the news that legendary composer Philip Glass will be contributing original compositions to the film’s score. I’m the world’s biggest Philip Glass fan, so it goes without saying I will be the first in line when STOKER opens on March 1, 2013.
