Arnold Schwarzenegger is currently in major image rehabilitation mode following the disturbing revelation that he fathered the child of his family’s housekeeper and kept it secret for years. He and Maria Shriver have since separated and Shriver has filed for divorce. But regardless of what you think of the man, he has led one hell of an incredible life. As Lesley Stahl notes in the opening of her 60 Minutes feature, it’s rare enough in this world for someone to reach the very top of their profession, but it’s almost unheard of for someone to climb to the peak of three professions. Such is the story of Arnold Schwarzenegger who managed to parlay his bodybuilding career into a movie career into a political career. There are too many highlights in the 60 Minutes report to mention all at once, but among the top would have to be when Arnold takes Lesley into his bedroom inside his Austrian childhood home (which is now a museum) and shows her the numerous photos of ripped muscle men he hung on his wall when he was just a little boy. The story he shares of his mother’s reaction is nothing short of hilarious. That’s just the tip of the iceberg, and you can watch the entire report below, as well as three 60 Minutes Overtime featurettes which let the viewers in on what happened behind the scenes of the months-long series of interviews which were filmed in multiple locations around the world. The report comes in conjunction with Schwarzenegger’s press tour for his brand new autobiography entitled Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story (Simon & Schuster, 2012).
