I just caught the tail end of Jean-Yves Thibaudet’s performance of Liszt’s Consolation No.3 on the radio and the last 5 seconds pulled me in so fast I had to hear the entire thing. When I went online I discovered this video of Russian classical virtuoso pianist Vladimir Horowitz (1903-1989) performing it with such perfection I had to share it. Also worth reading are the 1000+ comments embedded in the original YouTube video (I really love reading the passionate exchanges that get the classical fans all riled up when the critiques get red hot).
