Nearly 20 years after its original release, Terrence Malick’s WWII classic, The Thin Red Line (1998), is returning to theatres in a brand new 4K restoration. The film is set for re-release in France in August 2016, and in North America soon after. But that’s not the only Malick surprise in store for us this year. In October we will be treated to his highly anticipated documentary, Voyage Of Time, on October 7, 2016. Narrated by Brad Pitt, the 40-minute IMAX release will undoubtedly be a cinematic masterpiece, but the voyage doesn’t end there. Soon after, a longer feature-length version will arrive on the silver screen — this one narrated by Cate Blanchett. Check out the incredible trailer in full below. I’ve also attached a great video study by filmmaker Vugar Efendi entitled Nature Through Malick, Efendi writes, “One key visual element that stands out is the focus on nature. In all Terrence Malick’s films, nature always plays a central character. Being nature itself or the elements of nature, they are as crucial as the actual human protagonists in the telling of the story, much like a third character.” (Source: The Playlist)
