Watch This Emotional CBS Report On Vietnam Orphans Returning To Their Roots 40 Years Later

It was forty years ago this month when a military C5-A transport plane departed from Saigon filled with orphans on its way to carry these kids to their new lives in the United States. Tragically, the plane’s cargo door blew out and the aircraft crashed, killing 138 people, including 78 children. By the time South Vietnam had fallen, thousands of other Vietnamese kids had left their homeland. Now four decades later, these orphaned children are entering their mid-lives and are returning to their native home to find answers about their ancestors. As you will see in Barry Petersen’s report for CBS Sunday Morning, for one of these people her visit resulted in a discovery that she couldn’t have possibly imagined.
