Selfie culture is just one of the main reasons why I deleted my Instagram and personal Facebook accounts.  The relentless bombardment of seeing so many people I barely know posting photos of themselves ad nauseam reached a cut-off point for me when I realized I was sick and tired of people I hadn’t actually seen in years, and often had never even met.  The phenomenon of selfie culture and its inherent dark side were explored beautifully in the short film “I Forgot My Phone” (below), and now director Matthew Frost offers another commentary with his own short film starring Kirsten Dunst (above).  Entitled “Aspirational”, the 2-minute film captures the mind-numbing awkwardness that can ensue when a selfie shoot gets out of hand.  Any glimpse of a newspaper is proof positive that selfie culture is causing serious psychological damage in people around the world.  From a police officer recently caught taking a selfie with a suicide victim in the background, to a young man who killed himself after his failed attempts to take the “perfect” selfie — this madness needs to stop.  #DeleteInstagramNow  #SaveYourself  #SelfieDarkSide
