Arcade Fire‘s brand new album REFLEKTOR is set for release on October 30, and yesterday we were treated to the album’s third (by my count) music video. Set to clips from Marcel Camus‘ 1959 film Black Orpheus, the lyric video for “Afterlife” is nothing short of compelling. The classic film took home the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, as well as the Oscar for Best Foreign Language film. Filmed in Brazil, Black Orpheus was based on the play Orfeu da Conceição by Vinicius de Moraes, which is an adaptation of the Greek legend of Orpheus and Eurydice, set it in the modern context of a favela in Rio de Janeiro during Carnaval. You can pick up your own copy of Arcade Fire’s REFLEKTOR via iTunes. To read Intelligent Life‘s brand new review of the album be sure to visit MoreIntelligentLife.com.
