Director Alfonso Cuarón (Y Tu Mamá También, Children Of Men) is one name getting so much shouted praise these days I wouldn’t be surprised if you could hear it from outer space. His latest film GRAVITY starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, nearly blew the roof off the Venice Film Festival one week ago, and judging from the interstellar critical acclaim the film is receiving, there is a 100% chance it will do the same when it premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival this coming Sunday. The film is raking in 5-star reviews left, right, and centre, and among the biggest names in this long list of fans is director James Cameron. In a recent interview with VARIETY, Cameron didn’t hold back his praise: “I was stunned, absolutely floored. I think it’s the best space photography ever done, I think it’s the best space film ever done, and it’s the movie I’ve been hungry to see for an awful long time.” Cameron adds: “What is interesting is the human dimension. Alfonso and Sandra working together to create an absolutely seamless portrayal of a woman fighting for her life in zero gravity.” Vegas odds are that Bullock has most definitely secured herself a top spot in next January’s list of Oscar nominees for Best Actress. A brand new stunning HD trailer for the film was released earlier this morning, and you can defy GRAVITY yourself when the film opens in North America on October 4th.
