RODARTE is the fashion house founded by sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy. Born in Berkeley, California, the Mulleavy sisters have gained international acclaim for their gorgeous and progressive collections, and numerous awards including: the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year in June 2009, the prestigious Cooper Hewitt’s National Design Award for Fashion Design in 2010, as well as being the first fashion house to be awarded the National Art Award from Americans for the Arts in 2010. Some of RODARTE’s most devoted fans include Cate Blanchett, Keira Knightley, Dita von Teese, and Natalie Portman to name but a few.
In recent years, RODARTE has used the art of short film to tremendous effect, and their latest short is no exception. For the third time, RODARTE has collaborated with director Todd Cole, this time in a short entitled This Must Be The Only Fantasy. The film tracks suburban teen Lara (Sidney Williams) who is commanded by a fairy god mother (model Guinevere Van Seenus) to rescue Trevor (Elijah Wood). The atmosphere is a stunning fusion of medieval era swordsmanship, crossed with a Gregory Crewdson-like interpretation of modern suburbia. Adding to the mood is a brilliant soundtrack from the amazingness that is BEACH HOUSE.
