The very first trailer for Michel Gondry‘s upcoming film Mood Indigo was released yesterday, offering a stunning preview of the fantastical love story based on Boris Vian’s 1947 novel L’Écume des Jours (Froth On The Daydream). Starring Romain Duris and Audrey Tatou, the story follows the adventures of Colin (Duris) who invents an olfactory-musical instrument known as the pianocktail. The invention makes him an incredible sum of money, and as time goes on he falls in love with Chloé (Tatou) and gives away a quarter of his fortune to friends. Chloé eventually falls ill during their honeymoon with a water lily in the lung, a painful and rare condition that can only be treated by surrounding her with flowers. The expense is prohibitive and Colin soon exhausts his funds. Mood Indigo opens in France on April 24th, and will likely see a North American release soon after.
