THE BLACK LIST of Hollywood’s hottest unmade scripts was released earlier today. The editors open their ranking with the following preface: “THE BLACK LIST was compiled from the suggestions of over 290 film executives, each of whom contributed the names of up to ten of their favorite scripts that were written in, or are somehow uniquely associated with, 2012 and will not have completed principal photography during this calendar year. This year, scripts had to receive at least six mentions to be included on THE BLACK LIST. All reasonable effort has been made to confirm the information contained herein. THE BLACK LIST apologizes for all misspellings, misattributions, incorrect representation identification, and questionable 2012 affiliations. It has been said many times, but it’s worth repeating: THE BLACK LIST is not a ‘best of ‘ list. It is, at best, a ‘most liked’ list.” Among the most compelling is the Hillary Clinton biopic RODHAM which came in at #4 and has the following synopsis: “During the height of the Watergate scandal, rising star Hillary Rodham is the youngest lawyer chosen for the House Judiciary Committee to Impeach Nixon, but she soon finds herself forced to choose between a destined path to the White House and her unresolved.” You can check out the full list by visiting BLCKLST.com (NOTE: for even more insight into the nearly 80 scripts that appear on the list, simply head over to The Playlist‘s analysis).
