The brand new teaser for J.J. Abrams’ upcoming STAR TREK Into Darkness was released late last night, and in 60 seconds we get to see the city of London take a serious beating and watch the Enterprise crashing to Earth. There is also a Japanese teaser as well which features some extra footage near the very end. The synopsis of STAR TREK Into Darkness reads as follows: “After being called back home, the crew of the Enterprise find a seemingly unstoppable force which has attacked Starfleet and left the planet in chaos. Captain Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise are tasked with leading the deadly manhunt to capture the party responsible and settle an old score.” We’re familiar by now with who’s on board the Enterprise, but this time the villain is played by Benedict Cumberbatch (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy as well as Peter Jackson’s upcoming Hobbit trilogy) who is rumoured to be playing the role of Khan. And if this whets your Roddenberry appetite you can see the full 9-minute trailer previewing in the IMAX screenings of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. The trailer for the film goes online December 17th and the movie opens May 17, 2013. You can follow STAR TREK Into Darkness on Facebook, Twitter, and by visiting STARTREKmovie.com.
