Yesterday M83 proclaimed his adoration of Paris-based duo RENDEZ-VOUS when he posted “I LOVE RENDEZ-VOUS!!!” to his nearly 600,000 Facebook fans. That was all the convincing I needed, so I clicked on the link which brought me straight to their video for “Donna”. Suddenly I found myself transported to a rave filled with euphoric tweens in what I’m guessing is circa 1997. At first I thought it was more around 1986 but looking more closely I began to notice certain logos and fashion trends that brought me closer to my educated guess. Few things can brighten the mood as much as RENDEZ-VOUS’ video for “Donna” (including the couple at the 2:43 who have completely reinvented the art of tonsil hockey), but this video of a kid falling asleep in a car, along with this video of a Scottish Fold cat desperate for some lovin’ certainly do the trick too.
