It’s been gestating since 2010, but it looks as if the Janis Joplin biopic Get It While You Can, written by Ron and Theresa Kounin-Terry, is gaining some serious traction. Amy Adams has been attached to the film since the project’s early days, wetting the appetite of those in the industry excited about this brilliant casting choice (yours truly included). The film was supposed to be directed by City Of God helmer Fernando Meirelles, but due to unknown reasons this never ended up happening. Now comes news yesterday that director Lee Daniels (Precious, The Paperboy, The Butler) is in talks to take on the project, with a rumoured production start of early 2013. But there is much more to this story, including a competing Janis Joplin biopic, and some complications surrounding the rights to Joplin’s music. You can read the full story by visiting The Playlist.
