The possibility of a nuclear-armed Iran is the single greatest threat to world peace and stability, and the hard work of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons is a full-time job for a huge number of people. One man who devoted a huge part of his life to this mission is Meir Dagan, the former chief of Mossad, Israel’s equivalent of the CIA. Lesley Stahl of 60 Minutes recently sat down with Dagan for a revealing interview where Dagan warns of the immense danger and devastating consequences of a preemptive strike against Iran. An Iranian retaliation would wreak havoc on the daily lives of millions of Israelis, and would likely involve some 50,000+ missiles raining down on Israel — many of which would land in the thriving metropolis of Tel Aviv. Stahl also takes a look at Dagan’s 4-decade-long career which has earned him the nickname “Superman” in Arab countries because of his masterfully coordinated stealth-like assassinations of numerous targets. But as Stahl reports, there was one botched assassination mission which took place inside a Dubai hotel that was almost certainly the reason behind his having to leave the Mossad.
