If you’re lucky enough to find yourself in New York between September 13-16th you absolutely must get yourself to 106 W 29th St. for what promises to be an incredible showcase of creativity. This is the address of the Art Directors Club, an organization formed in the 1920s which has evolved into the premier organization for leaders in visual communication, boasting one of the most concentrated groups of creative talent in the world of advertising, design, interactive media and communications.
This year the ADC kicks off its annual CRE8 series celebrating music and art with a 4-day exhibition inside their 29th Street home. It would be a challenge for any board to select a guest of honor for an inaugural event in a series such as CRE8, having to find the perfect honoree which best encapsulates the shared landscape between art and music. Yet the ADC has done just that with their brilliant selection of GHOSTLY International, the remarkable New York collective of fiercely talented musicians and artists that has captured the attention of the world ever since its founding in Ann Arbor, Michigan back in 1999. Under GHOSTLY’s roof one will find visual artists including Michael Cina, Sougwen Chung, Andy Gilmore, Will Calcutt and Matt Shlian, alongside musicians Matthew Dear, Com Truise, Gold Panda, Lusine and School of Seven Bells. Consistently rejecting all restrictions of genre and form, the GHOSTLY ethos asserts that “creativity, in its apolitical nature, is an act worth striving to achieve. Unconcerned with classification, GHOSTLY highlights the act of making in and of itself, no matter the medium.” To get a glimpse of their label of visual artists be sure to visit GHOSTLY International Editions. And to enter their mother ship of musicians and all things GHOSTLY simply head over to GHOSTLY.com.
In their 4-day event entitled GHOSTLY International: Of Art and Artifice, the Art Directors Club will provide “a comprehensive state of the union, a peek into what’s next after 13 years of creativity from GHOSTLY International, creating an essential selection of work from the GHOSTLY family into a never-before-seen collection. In addition, the event will feature live music from Com Truise, Lusine, and NYC’s own Michna, as well as in-depth conversations with the artists themselves.” For more information as well as links to purchasing your tickets CLICK HERE. And a big congratulations goes out to the entire GHOSTLY team! For the very best of GHOSTLY you can follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
