Andrew Dominik’s latest film Killing Them Softly premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival to wide praise. In his review for Indiewire, Simon Abrams writes: “It’s a testament to Australian director Andrew Dominik’s considerable story-telling abilities that a movie as nakedly cynical and aggressively repellent in its philosophy as ‘Killing Them Softly’ is as satisfying as it is …The ambiguous, larger-than-life macho men in Dominik’s ‘Chopper’, ‘The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford’ and now ‘Killing Them Softly’ are all of a piece. They all have one foot in their own self-mythologizing headspaces and the other in the future they believe is just around the corner. But unlike those two earlier films, the macho-est man of all in ‘Killing Them Softly’ knows exactly what the future holds—but he just doesn’t care.” You can read the full review by CLICKING HERE, and Killing Them Softly opens on October 19th. And yesterday, the first full length trailer for Paranormal Activity 4 was released, which picks up the horror franchise inside the home of the neighbours of one of the series’ original victims. Online chat video is used as a storytelling mechanism here, and continuing with their use of social media, the film’s marketing team unveiled a “Want It” Facebook app, which connects to your profile to cast a vote for the city you live in. Paranormal Activity 4 opens on October 19th as well. The films of the Paranormal Activity franchise have grossed more than $576 million worldwide.
