As you can tell by this week’s banner photo, I’ve been soaking up every bit of amazingness inside Beach House‘s brand new album BLOOM, which the band allowed free streaming of via NPR late last week. “Myth” is just about the most incredible song you will ever hear in your life, but a close runner-up is the band’s exquisite track “On The Sea”. The first three quarters of the song provide the usual A+ musical genius of Beach House, but the last quarter in particular had me bursting with the life force power of the universe earlier this afternoon as I headed down to Chinatown on foot. Over and over again, the emotional landscape in that last quarter of “On The Sea” in particular is as rapturously beautiful and euphoric as it gets, my friends. Take it for a spin yourself, and — as is always highly recommended — blast it as loud as you possibly can, close your eyes, and let your imagination run wild.
