Taiwanese-born, Montreal-based musician Dirty Beaches exploded onto the world’s music scene this year with his phenomenal signature sound which fuses a David Lynchian mood with his achingly beautiful 1950s-esque vocal and guitar work (at 30-years-old, it’s almost as if DB’s come to us from a parallel universe, living alongside of us in 2011 all the while keeping his mind and talent rooted in the rich musical heritage of 60 years ago).  If you haven’t yet discovered Dirty Beaches then be sure to read this FEELguide profile of him from this past April entitled “Dirty Beaches Newest Album ‘Badlands’ Is Like A Surf Rock Time Machine”.  Just this morning I noticed that DB posted a gorgeous blues-inspired Christmas mixtape in light of the fact that he’ll be all by his lonesome this Christmas: “Merry Xmas everybody, if your not going home for Xmas like me cuz your family is too far away or for whatever reason, let this ‘Xmas Blues’ mixtape keep you company over those cold holwin’ nights.”  Each track is a rock solid gem and includes music from Lightnin’ Hopkins, Charlie Parker, Ella Fitzgerald, and much more.  To download Xmas Blues, one of the best Christmas mixtapes I’ve come across this year, simply CLICK HERE.  For the complete tracklisting be sure to visit Dirty Beaches’ blog.  I’ve attached one of the mix’s stand out tracks below entitled “I’m Goin’ Home” courtesy of the great Charley Patton, and no Dirty Beaches FEELguide story would be complete without posting the amazingness that is “True Blue”.  Merry Christmas!
