The lightmapping gods, otherwise known as ANTIVJ, have pulled off yet another stunning collaboration — this time as part of the Mapping Festival held between May 19-29, 2011. Entitled “St-Gervais”, the project matched up the lightmapping artistry of Legoman (a.k.a. Yannick Jacquet) and the electronic music compositions of Thomas Vaquié (whom I wouldn’t mind spending some “alone time” with inside of a dark church if you know what I mean), and the organist you will hear is Diego Innocenzi. It’s really something to listen to Yannick and Thomas speak about the concepts that informed each of their creations, especially the relationship between minimal Protestant architecture vs. minimal electronic soundscapes. As you watch the video below try and imagine how powerful the experience must have been to see this performance live with the acoustics inside the church as opposed to simply watching it on your laptop.
