The Spanish architecture firm A-cero, directed by Joaquin Torres, has been popping up on the world’s architectural radar a lot lately. Recently I posted a profile of their outstanding “Concrete House II” (to see that profile CLICK HERE) and this morning I just came across one of their newest design of a house on the outskirts of Madrid, Spain. Once again, their trademark style of long, undulating bands of concrete, glass, and wide open column-free interior spaces has resulted in another great home design. The horizontal elements seem to stack on top of each other creating a stratification effect, and the dark textured concrete hints at their mineral analogy. Although I feel the decor is somewhat overpowering, the interior colors are too grey and dark, and there should be more fabrics and reflective wall surfaces inside, I still think it’s a great accomplishment.
