I just discovered the work Israeli artist Yochai Matos (born 1977) while reading the latest issue of BLEND.  Yochai’s medium is light, in particular fluorescent light — hundreds of them to be precise.  Of particular beauty is his stunning outdoor installation entitled “Flame (Gate)” where he constructed a massive abstracted flame in the forest which Coolist describes as “a tear in the natural world, conveying hopeful emotions of the world beyond.” His other works are equally striking, including “The Striped Unicorn” and “Sunset” which I’ve included below.  You will also find a video of his gallery installation “Eclipse” set to the sounds of Bach’s No. 3 Adagio. To see more of Yochai’s incredible body of work you can pay him a visit at YochaiMatos.com.
