It’s hard to put into words how much I love Geotic’s new album Mend. Geotic is actually a side project of Will from the group Baths, and he’s been generous enough to offer you the entire album for free on his website here (although he’s taking donations and I strongly encourage you all to support his burgeoning career). A strange thing happened to me when I fell in love with this album because the same day I started listening to it I actually began reading Jonathan Franzen’s epic novel Freedom. I can’t usually listen to music while I read, but there’s something so atmospheric about every track on Mend that I found myself listening to it on constant repeat in the background as I read Freedom from cover to cover. Not only did the music amplify the story, but the story likewise amplified the music. I guess you’ll just have to listen to judge for yourself.
