Two years ago exactly I was working in Los Angeles doing post-production concept art for “GIJOE” and was lucky enough to be housesitting for my lovely friend Elizabeth at her home in Silverlake. When I wasn’t working on the film I would spend my mornings at LA Mill Coffee stalking Scott Speedman, and my nights in front of the Regent Beverly Wilshire waiting for a Lotus to pull up and Richard Gere to ask me for directions. My afternoons were spent suntanning in the lemon tree terrace browsing through OHLALAmag. Eventually I got to know Alek & Steph who run the company (visit www.OHLALAmag.com) and even did some art direction work on their web-based men’s lifestyle magazine BELLOmag.
Eventually I had to bid adieu to Channing Tatum and GIJOE and return to my life in Montreal but I will always have a very warm and fuzzy place reserved in my heart for Los Angeles. I absolutely love it there. I’m not sure if it’s because I already had a small base of friends there, but I think it’s an amazing place to live and learn and I would go back in a second; just as soon as I find my millionaire surfer husband with 2.5 dogs and a Venice Beach arts & crafts love nest. The next best thing to not being there is OHLALA and it’s been part of my daily web diet for a few years now. Worth noting is they’re both incredible photographers too (check out Alek & Steph Photography).
If you haven’t seen it already, be sure to read Alek & Steph’s recent interview with “True Blood” star Kevin Alejandro for BELLOmag here.
