Jonty Hurwitz is one of the most exciting artists to be found anywhere in the world right now.  One visit to his website is all the proof you need for this.  My appreciation for Hurwitz was solidified even more when I noticed his site is bannered with our mutually favorite quote from Albert Einstein which reads: “When I examine myself and my methods of thought, I come close to the conclusion that the gift of imagination has meant more to me than any talent for absorbing absolute knowledge.”  Hurwitz’s newest work is perhaps his most astonishing creation to date, and comes with the impressive honor of being the smallest recreation of the human form in history.  Using a painstaking technique of scanning the human form with a huge room-size array of cameras, then building his figures at nano-scale using a quantum physics process called Multiphoton Lithography, the results speak for themselves.  You can see some of his work below, and pay close attention to the scale representations included in some of the photos — these sculptures are so small that hundreds of them could fit inside the eye of a needle.  To put the size of these sculptures into perspective even further, one of them also has a scaled comparison of a male sperm cell in the photo to blow your mind open even further.  You can enter the mothership at JontyHurwitz.com.  For more amazing stories from the world of nanotechnology be sure to visit Nanotechnology on FEELguide.  (Source: The Creators Project)
