Documentation recently surfaced that reveals guitarist Jimi Hendrix, jazz icon Miles Davis, and Beatles god Paul McCartney came within a hair of recording music together in 1969 along with Davis’s drummer Tony Williams. FACT recently published a story which shows the two telegrams that explain everything. In the first telegram Hendrix, Davis, and Williams reach out to McCartney to see if he would be available to join them in the studio on bass: “We are recording and LP together this weekend. How about coming in to play bass stop call Alan Douglas 212-581-2212. Peace Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, Tony Williams.” Sadly, McCartney was on holiday in Scotland and wasn’t able to join them. Check out the 2 telegrams below, and you can read more about the significance of the timing of the near-miss by visiting FACT.
