In many ways, Wes Anderson is as secretive about his brewing movie projects as DAFT PUNK are about their music. Anderson, fresh off his Oscar nomination for writing his critically acclaimed 2012 film Moonrise Kingdom, is deep into his next film entitled The Grand Budapest Hotel. As is the case with all of Anderson’s movies, audiences and fans are kept in the dark from the films’ storylines and details, and know next to nothing when they eventually make their way to the theatre to see the final product. Earlier this week, however, some crucial details were leaked about The Grand Budapest Hotel and its out-of-this-world cast including: Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, F. Murray Abraham, Willem Dafoe, Jeff Goldblum, and an impressive host of many others. Impressively, The Grand Budapest Hotel has already been snatched up by Fox Searchlight (The Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Darjeeling Limited), and part of the studio’s decision to purchase the film most certainly had something to do with the script, the synopsis of which was leaked earlier this week: “The Grand Budapest Hotel tells of a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel between the wars and his friendship with a young employee who becomes his trusted protégé. The story involves the theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting, the battle for an enormous family fortune and the slow and then sudden upheavals that transformed Europe during the first half of the 20th century.” Among the other details leaked are several character descriptions of such cast members as Jeff Goldblum who describes his character as “a cross between Sigmund Freud and Jack Benny.” Kevin Jagernauth of The Playlist is predicting a December 2013 release which would place it perfectly in the prime harvesting season for the strongest Oscar contenders.
