It was one of the most captivating hits at this year’s Cannes Film Festival back in May, and now Rodney Ascher’s documentary Room 237 is about to hit the NYFF. The film, which explores the numerous narrative and visual subtexts running throughout Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 horror masterpiece The Shining, has captured the imaginations of each and every person who has seen it, and is apparently an incredible experience for any cinephile. IFC Midnight has picked up the rights to Room 237 and the film will likely be released in late 2012. In The Playist review, Kevin Jagernauth says you will likely be floored for days by the theories that abound in Room 237, and he calls the documentary “unique and at times profound.” You can read the full review by visitingThe Playlist.
