What better way to kick off a weekend than with a 22-minute chat between two of my favorite people in the entire universe: Charlie Rose and Tilda Swinton. Tilda’s busy promoting the North American release of her highly anticipated sociopathic thriller We Need To Talk About Kevin, and she paid a visit to Charlie’s oak table to talk about the movie, but also about a wide range of other topics. The film itself is a study of motherly discomfort with newborn children, and brings to the silver screen a very uncomfortable subject matter which is just now beginning to be talked about by women beyond closed doors — the idea that not all mothers develop an instantaneous bond with their child(ren), with some never developing this bond at all. As the conversation develops, it transitions to Swinton’s ideas on how she uses glamour as a means of collaborative engagement with her immensely talented friends, her definition of acting, the fascinating creative niche she has carved for herself over the course of her career, as well as Charlies’ confession that Tilda is pretty much the sexiest, most alluring woman on the face of the earth:
