Holy triple WOW, with a double quad backflip and perfect finish. In what has to be the most intoxicating casting news to come out of Hollywood in all of 2011, Werner Herzog has taken on the role of Zec, the ex-prisoner of war who becomes the evil villain in Lee Child’s novel One Shot — currently being turned into a huge film with Tom Cruise leading the cast. Robert Duvall, Rosamund Pike, David Oyelowo, Richard Jenkins, Alexia Fast and Jai Courtney are the other major cast members, and the screenplay was not only written by Christopher McQuarrie, but will he is also directing as well. As far as Herzog’s acting chops go, this will mark his first major performance on screen, despite a few cameos here and there, as well as several guest spots on The Simpsons. Cruise and David Ellison will produce along with Don Granger, Paula Wagner, Dana Goldberg and Gary Levinsohn through Mutual Film Company and Cruise/Wagner Productions. One Shot is scheduled to be released in February 2013. So sit tight ladies and gents — there is an extremely high chance this will be incredible.
